3 Idiots review

Rajkumar Hirani keeps replicating his "underdog turned hero" stories and continues to be successful repeatedly. Wangdu, Munna etc are somewhere there in you heart. They are nothing but ideas/emotions that each one of us lived through but never had the courage to bring out or express. Hirani in his fantasy world brings them out and shows them as the right way of living life. Are these ideas practical? Are these emotions public? who cares? his movies connect to an average man and how???

The only issue so far in his movies was his choice of Sanjay Dutt. Nothing wrong with the man but you always want a Circuit to appear on the screen and eagerly await the return of Gandhi. Why? the sidekick and side roles did better job than the main role. Tables have turned slightly in 3 Idiots....The role is with AAMIR and he lives through it as if it his second - err sorry - first skin. The other two idiots support heartily.

Let us dwell on Aamir a little bit. The reason Aamir is so successful is not because of his acting. I think we have many talented actors in bolly. His success can be attributed to his selection of films and his due-diligence of his role and the script. No wonder he strikes gold every time. Shahrukh - listening?

I have always said this about Kareena. She has more to her than her body but cruel bollywood invariably focuses on her dance nos, latkas, jhatkas and size zero. Watch her in 3 I and nominate her for the best actress award. Kats where are you?

Boman - you're the man. Is there any character that you can not play? Boman has firmly established his name on the long list of solid character artists that bollywood has produced in recent years - Paresh, Naseeruddin, Anupam.... Go on and make India proud. Sherman Joshi and Madhavan are reaching there. Rang de and now this.

Not all is good though....I have some sour points too.

• Javed - I remember you single-handedly pulling off the entire fun quotient in Salaam Namaste. Why have you accepted this role? Is money a problem?
• Mr. Hirani, thanks for the underdogs - you are superb - can we expect something new? Something different now?
